Steingraeber Grand Pianos
The Steingraeber Piano Company
“I cannot thank you enough for creating a VERY beautiful and exceptionally original piano! Please stick to your own vision and keep enhancing our lives!” - Nicolai Demidenko
Within the space of three decades, Eduard Steingraeber built his firm into Bavaria’s largest and most important upright and grand piano maker, a regular recipient of international prizes ever since 1867. And so it remains to this day: international awards, the historic residence of the firm and the Schmidt-Steingraeber family, whose sixth generation now directs the business.
Steingraeber & Sohne has always had the impulse to search for new developments in the construction of world-class instruments. To quote the Le Mode de la Musique magazine regarding Steingraeber’s new E272 concert grand instrument:
“One simply cannot find a better instrument these days for the interpretation of Bach, Beethoven and Mozart…An extraordinary instrument.”

Information |
| 130PS |
Even in its basic form, the 130 PS Profi Studio upright model has an extraordinarily quick repetition and a sostenuto pedal. Available with an additional repetition facility (88 repetition levers) giving a touch which is similar to a grand. |
| 130K |
With their most successful upright, you are in effect buying a 160cm (5’3”) baby grand. This model was awarded the ‘world’s best’ prize for upright in the Parisian magazine le Monde De La Musique. It is often preferred by conservatoires over mass-produced studio grands, because it is technically comparable and has superior sound flexibility. |
| 138K |
The 138 is the largest upright piano on the world market and sounds like a six foot grand. With its latest refinements (including the DFM ‘grand feel’ action, this top of the line instrument wants for nothing and was recently named ‘world’s best’ in the Parisian magazine Le Monde De La Musique. |
| 168 |
We don’t consider the Model 168 to be a ‘baby grand’, because its sound is much larger than its size would suggest. Its projection and volume are truly surprising: In physical terms, this phenomenon is based upon its unusually wide tail, which results in very long bass strings. The bass bridge is mounted directly to the soundboard, similar to larger grand pianos! The sophisticated action mechanism, built to the highest specifications, makes it a truly professional instrument. |
| 205 |
The Chamber Concert Grand Piano 205 was designed to embody the same tone quality of the Steingraeber Liszt Grand Piano (1872). This model is in continuous use on stage in conservatories, for lieder recitals, in recording studios and at New Music festivals. The 205 is the ideal choice whenever fine distinctions and exacting interpretation are demanded. In the treble, the soundboard sits atop a maple block, which serves to naturally enrich the overtones. |
