A piano has at least 5000 components, enough to keep our techicians busy as they regulate every piano, ready for a perfect performance before every delivery.

Sales

DamonDamon Burrows returned to us in 2002, having been with us prior to that for a number of years. Damon studied at the RCM and LAMDA, and is a highly gifted musician who deputises for some of the West End shows, together with pursuing an active musical career. Damons knowledge of the piano, and music is phenomenal, and he has adeptly guided hundreds of musicians and potential musicians in buying the ideal piano for their situations.

Event Hire

KarenKaren Light joined us in 1997 from a leading piano logistics and transport company.
Her warm, bubbly personality combines with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of event hire.

Karen will be able to guide you in choosing a suitable instrument for your venue and event, and ensuring that everything goes to plan including delivery, collection, and liaising with Jenni on tuning.

Jenni Jenni Walker joined us in 2012 coming from a customer services background, and she has become a firm favourite with our many tuning, servicing, and transport clients. Always happy to go the extra mile to ensure a high level of customer service and professionalism, and all this inevitably with a smile on her face.

Administration

MerilMeril Stewart joined us in 1985 and is our longest serving employee and has developed her role into being the backbone of our administrative team. If you have any account enquiries or need copies of documentation, Meril is the person to talk with - you can guarantee a delightful reception.

Chairman

JulianJulian Markson joined in 1969, as a regular member of the sales team. Having learnt business and marketing skills at college in 1974, he started to work full time in Albany Street, taking over responsibility for the administration, imports, finance and restoration departments, eventually becoming Managing Director, and then Chairman of the Board of Directors, a position held to the present day.
External to Markson Pianos, Julian has held various posts, including treasurer of the Music Industries Association Council (MIA), a Council Member, Secretary and a Fellow of the Institute of Musical Instrument Technology (IMIT), and a member of the Worshipful Company of Musicians.
Away from music, Julian’s interests include theatre, woodturning, travel, good food (cooking and consuming), and even better wine.

Managing Director

SimonSimon Markson in a past life worked in theatre, studied at Manchester University, and travelled the world prior to joining the family business in 1976.
Simon holds a post-graduate Diploma in Management Studies and is trained in Shiatsu and Alternative Health.

As Managing Director, Simon says "I take great pleasure in leading the development of the business and its growth, together with supporting our staff in their roles. My ethos has always been to go out and get business by establishing links with the music community. This has taken the form of extensive sponsorship, our on-going concert series, and events such as Piano Day London".

Outside interests include spending time with his family, playing the piano, theatre and concerts, and walking by the sea.

Finance Director

AndrewAndrew Bishop joined us in 1985 coming from a background in engineering and hospitality management. With experience in every department of Markson Pianos, and having gained his relevant qualifications, Andrew was appointed Finance Director in 1997. His skills base is diverse encompassing IT and Project Management within his day to day role, in addition to his role in finance.

Andrew says "Even after nearly 30 years of service I still enjoy coming to work everyday because the challenges are wide and varied".

Andrew served as District Commissioner for the Scout Association for a period of 8 years, and has been the Treasurer for a sizeable charity for 10 years.
External interests include travelling extensively, and spending time on Dartmoor and in Malta

Operations Manager

JonnyJonny Aziz joined the business in 2013 after spending six years as production manager of a local newspaper.
His background is in photography, design, and company branding.

Jonny now focuses mainly on the short term hire and event hire department of the company but is also involved across all areas of the business including sales, long term hire and marketing.

Jonny’s hobbies include spending time with family, playing football, cooking, and reading historical novels
