This impressive instrument utilises the new Responsive Hammer keyboard action, offering premium features such as let-off simulation and Ivory Touch key surfaces to absorb moisture and aid control. With a traditional furniture design and attractive Premium Rosewood, Cherry, Mahogany, and Black Satin finishes complementing the exceptional touch and authentic tone of this charming instrument, the CN33 truly establishes a new standard in digital piano performance, quality, and value. TOUCH The new Responsive Hammer keyboard action has been developed to represent the distinctive touch of a traditional grand piano, with its remarkable springless design providing consistent upward and downward motion for a smooth, more natural, piano playing experience. This improved action also features KAWAI’s Ivory Touch key surface material, with the fine texture helping to absorbing moisture and aid control. Moreover, just as acoustic pianos utilise heavier bass hammers and lighter treble hammers, the RH Action also employs different hammer weights, appropriately graded for each playing range, while the realistic let-off simulation recreates the delicate ‘notch’ sensation felt when gently playing the keys of a grand piano. Such attention to detail allows greater stability during fortissimo passages, while preserving delicate pianissimo control, to satisfy the demands of even the most discerning pianist. TONE The new CN33 captures the beautiful sound of KAWAI’s highly acclaimed, hand-built concert grand piano, with all 88 keys of this exceptional instrument meticulously recorded, analysed, and faithfully reproduced using the very latest Progressive Harmonic Imaging™ technology. This unique process accurately recreates the broad dynamic range of the original piano, offering even greater tonal detail than the existing Harmonic Imaging™ standard, while also providing the source for a selection of additional high-quality instrument sounds. Finally, string resonance, reverb and damper effects are applied, delivering rich tones with breathtaking realism and stunning authenticity. FEATURES The convenient lesson feature allows aspiring pianists to learn the piano using a built-in collection of etudes from Czerny, Burgmüller and Beyer, or songs from the popular Alfred Basic, Adult and Premier course books. The left and right hand parts of each piece can be practiced separately, adjusting the tempo to perfect difficult passages, before being recorded and played back for self-evaluation. An intuitive recording function is also featured as standard across the CN Series range, with the CN33 capable of storing up to 3 two-track recorder songs in memory. Recorder songs can then be saved to and loaded from USB memory, which also allows the vast selection of widely accessible SMF MIDI files to be heard through the instrument’s exquisite Progressive Harmonic Imaging sound engine. In addition to these impressive internal features, considerable attention has also been paid to the external appearance of the CN33, with traditionally styled cabinet accents and beautiful Premium finishes combining to lend distinctive character to this exceptional instrument. | Action | RH Action with let-off, 88 weighted keys with Ivory Touch key surfaces | | Sounds | 36 | | Sound source | Progressive Harmonic Imaging™ system with 88 key sampling | | Polyphony | Max. 96 notes | | Reverb | 5: Room 1, Room 2, Stage, Hall 1, Hall 2 | | Effects | Chorus, Tremolo, Delay 1, Delay 2, Delay 3, Rotary 1, Rotary 2 | | Lesson function | Alfred lesson books | | Dual mode | Yes | | Split mode | Yes, splitpoint is freely assignable | | 4-Hand mode | Yes | | Key Velocity | Light 1, Light 2, Normal, Heavy 1, Heavy 2, off | | Recorder | 3 songs, 2 tracks, max. 15.000 notes | | Other features | Damper Effect, String Resonance, Transpose, MIDI-Multi-Mode, Tuning, Historic Temperaments, Layer Octave Shift, Lower Octave Shift, Lower Pedal On/Off, Damper Hold, Panel Lock | | LED-Display | Yes | | Metronome | Beats: 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 5/4, 3/8, 6/8; Tempo: 10-300 BPM | | Demo Songs | 30 | | Concert Magic Songs | 88 | | Pedals | 3: Damper (Half-Pedal), Sostenuto, Soft | | Finish | Premium Rosewood, Premium Mahogany, Premium Cherry, Satin Black or Premium Satin White | | Key lid | Yes | | Jacks | Headphones x 2, Line In, Line Out, MIDI In/Out, USB (to Host), USB (to Device) | | Speakers | 16 cm x 2 | | Amplifier | 20 Watt x 2 | | Dimensions (WxDxH) in cm | 138 x 47 x 88 | | Weight in kg | 54 |

| CA63 |
CA63 The new Concert Artists are quite simply the finest digital pianos available. Elegantly designed, with the character and refinement of a traditional instrument, these impressive pianos entice musicians to perform, while inspiring even non-musicians to start playing, and will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression from the very first glance. Featuring the latest Ultra Progressive Harmonic Imaging sound technology, the new Concert Artists offer the most detailed acoustic portrait of any digital piano, with 88-key piano sampling ensuring smooth tonal transitions across the keyboard and throughout the entire dynamic range. The new Concert Artists also introduce RM3 Grand – the most realistic digital piano keyboard ever developed – with finely textured Ivory Touch key surfaces further enhancing KAWAI’s unique wooden-key action technology. Finally, complementing these impressive advances in sound and action technology, the convenient USB Audio feature allows music files stored on USB memory to be played through the instrument’s speaker system, or for memorable performances to be recorded directly to MP3/WAV without leaving the keyboard. The touch and tone of an acoustic grand with all the features and convenience of a digital: all new Concert Artists from KAWAI – the future of the piano. The sound of a grand piano The KAWAI EX concert grand piano is widely regarded by professional pianists and piano technicians as the finest instrument of its class. Hand-built by our distinguished Master Piano Artisans at the Shigeru Kawai Piano Research Laboratory in Ryuyo, Japan, each EX instrument undergoes a meticulous regulation and refinement process within a specially designed anechoic chamber. Following this lengthy preparation period, the completed EX piano receives a final series of rigorous quality inspections, before eventually taking pride of place on the centre stage of the world’s most prestigious musical institutions and concert halls.
The beautiful sound of the EX grand piano is at the heart of the new Concert Artist, with all eighty-eight keys of this world-class instrument painstakingly recorded, analysed, and reproduced as high-fidelity digital waveforms. Recording each key individually in this way – as opposed to stretching the same tone over several different notes – ensures that the rich harmonic character of the original EX grand piano is preserved, and guarantees that the sound heard when pressing any one of the Concert Artist’s wooden keys is a faithful representation of the acoustic source.
When playing the piano, the amount of pressure applied to the keyboard not only affects the volume of the sound produced, but also the unique tonal character of each note. Therefore, in order to gather a realistic acoustic portrait of the EX grand piano, not only is each key recorded individually, but also captured at various different strengths, ranging from gentle pianissimo to thunderous fortissimo. The new Concert Artist offers the most detailed acoustic portrait of any digital piano, with Ultra Progressive Harmonic Imaging sound technology ensuring smooth tonal transitions across the keyboard and throughout the entire dynamic range. The touch of a grand piano The keyboard action of an acoustic grand piano has remained largely unchanged for centuries, employing long wooden keys that rise and fall in a seesaw motion, to trigger hammers that strike metallic strings. It’s an intricate, yet beautifully designed mechanism that allows pianists to express a wealth of feeling and emotion in their playing. The Concert Artist’s RM3 Grand action embraces the very same, long-established acoustic piano principles of material, motion, and mechanism to faithfully recreate the exceptional touch of a fine concert grand. First, all eighty-eight black and white keys are crafted entirely from long pieces of wood, with finely textured ivory-like surfaces applied to absorb moisture and assist control. The centre of each wooden key sits upon a balance pin, rising and falling with gravity, for a consistent, natural motion that’s reminiscent of its acoustic counterpart. When pressed, the back of each key triggers a grade-weighted hammer, which in turn strikes a switch to play the note. Additional counter-weights placed at the front of the bass keys, help to lighten their heavier touch during pianissimo passages – again, another refinement borrowed from the acoustic piano action. While the new let-off feature even recreates the subtle ‘notch’ sensation felt when gently playing the keys of a grand. MP3/WAV recording and playback USB memory devices can be used to play back MP3 or WAV audio files, allowing musicians to learn the chords or melody for a new piece, or to simply play along with their favourite songs. It is even possible to save performances as MP3 or WAV files for emailing to friends and family, listening to on an iPod, or for further editing using an audio workstation. Speaker and amplifier system The final stage in reproducing the exquisite tone of the EX grand piano relates to the physical delivery of the sound itself. The CA63 features powerful speaker systems that provide deep, resonant bass frequencies and clean, crisp trebles. Touch curve Previously, when the normal touch curve didn't fit your playing style, the only solution was to choose one of the different touch curve presets in the piano. With the NEW User Touch Curve feature, you can CREATE your own touch curve. In User Touch Curve mode, you are asked to play dynamically from soft to loud to input your playing style. Then the piano analyses the data and creates the perfect touch curve specially made for you. Virtual Technician A piano technician plays a very important role for an acoustic piano to be in the best playing condition for a pianist. Our VIRTUAL TECHNICIAN function does the same work digitally. You'll find Kawai's exclusive Virtual Voicing, capable of digitally "voicing" the piano sound. There are also controls for adjusting the action's Touch, String and Damper Resonance, as well as several other piano-specific settings. User Memory You can easily customise your Concert Artist piano's initial settings. Choose a new starting instrument, favourite effect, touch curve, etc. Once you have the piano memorise it then you don't have to go through many buttons every time you turn the power on. Dual, Split and 4 Hand Mode When you layer two sounds (Dual) or use different sounds on the left and right (Split), the balance control is convenient for quick and easy adjustment of the two sounds' balance. Moreover, you can adjust the octave range of the second sound (Layer Octave Shift, Lower Octave Shift) in DUAL and also in SPLIT mode. Also you can set up the dynamic behaviour of the second DUAL sound (Layer Dynamics), to let you avoid having too high a volume on it. In Four Hand Mode you can split the keyboard in two halfs by having the same octave range on both parts. So two pianists (i.e. teacher and pupil) can play and practise together on only one instrument. LESSON Function For the aspiring pianist, the Concert Artist Series features a recorded collection of standard practice and warm-up drills, with a companion music book containing major and minor scales, arpeggios and Hanon exercises also included. Moreover, the powerful lesson function allows performers to learn the piano using a built-in collection of etudes from Czerny, Burgmüller, Beyer and Bach, or songs from the popular Alfred Basic, Adult and Premiere (USA, Canada, Australia and UK only) course books. Each etude or song can be played at various tempos, practicing the left and right hand parts separately, before eventually recording a practice session for self-evaluation. Reverb and Effects Five distinct reverb types simulate listening environments from private practice rooms to concert halls. Two special reverbs produce a 3D effect, surrounding you with sound from all directions. Digital sound effects such as delays (three types), Chorus, Tremolo and Rotary Speakers (two types) add to the remarkable realism of the Concert Artist sounds. You can adjust the digital effects and - for further use - save. Metronome and drum rhythms In addition to the standard metronome click you can choose from 100 drum rhythms for your convenience on all three new CA models. Play along with a complete drum set. You can load various rhythms and change their tempo. Never before was practising so much fun. | Keyboard | 88 wooden keys with Ivory Touch key surfaces | | Action | RM3 Grand | | Sound source | Ultra Progressive Harmonic Imaging™ (UPHI) | | Internal Sounds | 60 voices | | Polyphony | max. 192 notes | | Display | 16 x 2 characters LCD | | Reverb | Room 1, Room 2, Stage, Hall 1, Hall 2 | | Effects | Chorus, Delay 1, Delay 2, Delay 3, Tremolo, Rotary 1, Rotary 2 | | Recorder | 10 song, 2 track recorder - 90,000 notes | | USB functions | Play MP3/WAV/MID, Record MP3/WAV, Convert Song to Audio, Load/Save Recorder song | | Registrations | 8 memories | | Demo songs | 36 songs + 29 Piano Music pieces | | Concert Magic | 176 songs | | Lesson function | Finger exercises + Alfred lesson books | | Virtual Technician | Voicing, Damper Resonance, String Resonance, Key Off Effect, User Touch Curve, Temperament, Stretch Tuning | | EQ settings | Loudness, Bass Boost, Treble Boost, Mid Cut, User (3 band EQ) | | Other features | Dual, Split, Dual/Split Balance Adjust, Four Hands Mode, Key/Song Transpose, Tuning, Metronome (with 100 rhythms), Speaker/Headphone Volume | | Pedals | Damper (with Half-Pedal support), Sostenuto, Soft | | Finish | Premium Black Satin, Premium Rosewood, Premium Cherry or Premium Mahogany | | Jacks | MIDI (IN/OUT/THRU), USB (to Host, to Device), LINE IN (L / MONO, R), LINE IN Level Adjust, STEREO IN, LINE OUT (L / MONO, R), Phones x 2 | | Speakers | 13 cm x 2 + 5 cm x 2 | | Output power | 50 W x 2 | | Dimensions | 144 (W) x 47 (D) x 91 (H) cm | | Weight | 76.0 k |
