    Since the late 1980's Markson Pianos have become the largest and one of the most respected music event hire specialists in the country. Considering the intense pressures that venues and organisers are subjected to when arranging events we encourage working partnerships as opposed to a just 'supply' ethos with our clients and developing an understanding of their needs and requirements.

    Our event hire team came to us with a wide skills base from the world of theatre, and event production and this coupled with our first class fleet of instruments and highly skilled and motivated transport teams and tuners, means we can provide an un-paralleled level of service and supply.

    Over many years we have 'road-tested' a wide variety of instruments for their suitability and durability within the event hire market. Since the mid 1990's we have specialised in using the Yamaha range of pianos which we renew approximately every three years. Yamaha pianos are constructed in such a way as to make them reliable, robust, durable, and stable ; all these being vital aspects within event hire specifications. Yamaha use :-

  • High quality strings and hammers ; in the case of the CFIIIS these are handmade
  • Solid spruce wood (due to it's superb resonance) is used for the soundboard which is permanent crowned in a bespoke way to minimise the possibility of cracking
  • Soundboard bracings running right to the edge of the soundboard, and are 'notched' into the rim of the piano providing extra support to the crown and added longevity to the piano
  • Extruded Aluminium Alloy Action rail eliminates the atmospheric effects on the wooden action rails which affect the 'touch' meaning the regulation and set up lasts for a considerable length of time. The overall balance and weight grade remains constant gving complete evenness when playing.
  • Spruce wood is used for the keys due to its lightness, but very high weight to strength ratio. This ensures that the keys are able to withstand constant Fortissiomo passages over many years, while having the lightness to allow for very fast and intricate performances.
