The Silent Upright Piano Portfolio
Silent Pianos - Acoustic and Digital all in one

We find that the fear of disturbing neighbours or other members of the household is one of the biggest concerns of our customers when choosing an acoustic piano. Please be assured that in our long experience, the vast majority of people are very amenable to the sound of a piano which is certainly far less intrusive than that of a violin or trumpet. However, late night and repetitive practice can sometimes test the patience of even the most avid music lover.

‘Silent’ piano systems allow the player to completely cut off the acoustic resonance of the instrument, whilst keeping the touch and feel of the piano keyboard. The sound is relayed to the player by means of very sophisticated sampling technology, through headphones. These systems are not intrusive or harm the original characteristics of the piano in anyway and once turned off, the instrument will sound exactly like any other piano.

Yamaha have been producing ‘Silent’ pianos now for a number of years and their impressive SH and SG2 systems are available on all their uprights and grand models. C. Bechstein also produces their very sophisticated ‘Vario’ system and there is an option of ‘retrofitting’ the highly regarded ‘QuietTime’ system by PianoDisc to your existing piano.
