We hear a lot of people say that they would like to play the piano, but the cost of owning one can be expensive and so often puts people off. Piano hire is the most cost-effective way to own a piano, which meets your needs in terms of budget and quality and gives you the opportunity to see if it is something that you or your children wish to continue in the long term, without making a financial commitment. Piano hire enables you to have a piano in your home for all the family to enjoy and learn if the piano is the right instrument for you before buying a piano.
Why hire a piano? Often we hear of people who have started to learn and have bought a cheap piano either from their local paper, or from an auction, and when they have used it for a while find that there are sticking notes, or it won’t stay in tune which inevitably puts them off playing.
There are many advantages in hiring a piano as a preference to outright purchase.
The most frequent is when parents have young children starting out on their first lessons, and hiring a good piano can act as an incentive to the child to practice, and to continue playing. The decision to purchase is then a result of making sure the child really enjoys playing the piano and finds it fun and rewarding. Piano hire is a great way to try before you buy.
Music college students and adult beginners also form a large part of our client base, together with re-learners who were interrupted, and feel they actively missed out on this experience, and now have more time to dedicate to it…..a great example is a rather well-known politician who is studying with Lola Perrin our Composer in Residence.
We specialise in piano hire in London, the south-east and the UK since we helped to pioneer the concept of Piano Hire with the Option to Buy in the 1960s and provided them to many private homes, restaurants, and institutions. Our Piano Hire scheme is very flexible, and we are here to give you good advice.
Prices for hiring a piano start from as little as £35.00 per month. Piano Hire fees are payable initially in advance for the first 6 months for secondhand pianos. Thereafter hire fees are to be paid against the invoice, or by monthly Standing Order. We do not require a deposit, just the hire fees and the transport charges, and we do not force you to have your piano tuned (though it is highly recommended to ensure pleasure is gained from playing). Piano hire enables you to have a quality piano delivered to your home for all the family to enjoy and to learn if the piano is the right instrument for you or your children before buying a piano
There is no direct correlation between the price of the piano and the relative hire fees, but pianos costing around £1500 will have higher fees in the region of £40 per month, where pianos costing £4000 would have hire fees of around £80 per month.
The basic cost of delivery and collection is £120.00 each way if the piano is being delivered within the M25 radius and provided there are no stairs for the piano to be carried up from the road level. Charges involving stairs are calculated at the time of hiring, but they are not exorbitant.
Our minimum (payable) period for a long term hire is 6 months, with the piano hire fees and the delivery and collection charges payable in advance and by Standing Order. This is a rollover contract, and you will be invoiced in advance for subsequent periods after the initial contract period has finished.
NB The minimum hire period for new or silent pianos is 6 months
We offer a very attractive Option to Purchase Scheme whereby a percentage of the hire fees you have paid can be offset against buying either the piano you are hiring or any other piano. The maximum rebate will be equivalent to 6 month’s hire fees. Should you decide to take up the option to buy the piano you are hiring, we will also deduct the collection fee. These deductions will be made from the original purchase price quoted at the commencement of hire.
