Piano Polyester Repairs

Repolyestering

Today pianos are finished in sprayed finishes of either a lacquer or polyester. A polyester finish tends to be a very high gloss mirror type finish, which is available in any colour that you can dream of.

One of the major advantages of polyester is that it is impervious to moisture, and heat, so, although we do not recommend it, you can put a vase of flowers on your piano, or a hot cup of tea.

The big disadvantage of polyester is that over time very fine scratches appear on the surface. These can be buffed out, but this can be quite messy in your home. Many knocks, marks, and small chips can be repaired in your home, but obviously the major respraying of polyester has to be carried out in specialist spray shops.
