A bit about Grotrian-Steinweg Pianos

“Lads, build good pianos and the rest will take care of itself”, Wilhelm Grotrian once said to his sons Kurt and Willi and thereby phrased one of the most important mottos for the GROTRIAN company. When you listen to the sound of a GROTRIAN you will notice that there is much more behind it: a love for music. Since 1835, this now fifth, and sixth generation family business have been making pianos adhering to the mantra of Wilhelm Grotrian. In 2015, a new shareholder came on board, The Parsons Music Group – also a family run business with headquarters in Hong Kong, who employ over 5000 personnel and have 100 of their own retail outlets. Grotrian says that all pianos bearing its name will continue to be made in Braunschweig, Germany, and that the Parsons investment will be used to expand manufacturing capacity to better serve the burgeoning Asian piano market. In 2018, Grotrian introduced two lines that are even more affordable: Wilhelm Grotrian and Wilhelm Grotrian Studio. Giving a very solid economic platform, Grotrian have a wide range of pianos, some under different brand names, but the attention to detail, innovation, and craftsmanship makes these exceptional instruments, which rival the very best of the German brands.
